Now that you know a little bit about living in Etobicoke, here are some fun things to do in the Winter in Etobicoke during the cold months. Make sure to take advantage of Etobicoke’s indoor & outdoor resources and amazing culture experiences this winter!

1. Etobicoke Outdoor Skating Rinks

Etobicoke is home to numerous outdoor skating rinks. For fun things to do in the Winter in Etobicoke, you can bring the kids to a pick-up game, or a more casual skate around for the whole family. Here’s a useful list of one closest to you!

2. Colonel Sam Smith Skating Trail

For a truly special skating experience, try the Colonel Sam Smith Skating Trail.  Toronto’s first figure 8 outdoor trail is 250 meters long and is perfect for families, or a fun outdoor date! Note that there is no skate rental. 

3. Centennial Ski and Snowboard Centre

256 Centennial Park Road (1 block west of Renforth Drive, north of Rathburn Road) Etobicoke, ON M9C 5N3

Need a quick ski/snowboard fix? The Centennial Park Ski and Snowboard Centre is a great alternative to the long trek up North to the nearest ski resort.

4. Winterlicious (January 27th – February 9th, 2017)

Toronto’s winter culinary celebration offers the perfect opportunity to discover delicious cuisine at more than 220 restaurants and experience unique culinary events. Lunch menus are priced at $18 to $28 while dinner menus are priced at $28 to $48.

There are numerous Etobicoke restaurants that are participating this year, including Beaumont Kitchen, Chop Steakhouse and Bar, Merlot Restaurant, Olio Mediterranean Grille, Pulcinella Ristorante Italiano, Santamonica Trattoria, Table 21, ViBo Restaurant, and Old Mill Restaurant.

5. Family Day (February 20th, 2017)

Numerous activities and events will take place throughout Etobicoke. This is a great day to explore the local area and bond with your children.

6. Montgomery’s Inn Farmer’s Indoor Market – (January 4th through late May 2017)

Featuring fresh-baked bread from the Inn’s wood-fired oven, local and organic produce, meat, cheese ready-to-eat meals, and snacks. The Inn also has frequent food tastings, free tours, and other activities.

7. Sweet Olenka’s

Treat yourself and your loved ones to something sweet! Nothing hits the spot quite like a hot chocolate in the colder months. A true Mom & Pop Store, every item in the shop is handcrafted by Olenka, her husband Ray, and their extremely enthusiastic team. The couple brought with them Olenka’s European chocolate know-how, handed down from her grandfather who worked as a chocolatier in Ukraine.

8. Coldest Night of the Year (February 25th, 2017

5pm – 8pm (registration begins at 4pm)
Location: Church on the Queensway, 1536 The Queensway, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 1T5

Face the cold while doing some good! The Coldest Night of the Year is a “fantastically fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 65 communities across Canada”. The purpose of this event is for partakers to experience a fraction of the hardships faced by those experiencing homelessness. Hosted by the non-profit organization, Haven on the Queensway, participants can choose to walk in 2, 5, or 10km walk routes.

9. Glenn Miller Tribute Concert (Saturday, April 22nd, 8:00 pm – 11:30 pm)

Looking for a unique music experience? Transport yourself back in time to the swinging 40s at the Old Mill Toronto. The Toronto All-Star Big Band will be playing a Glenn Miller Tribute at the Old Mill. Dancing is strongly encouraged, so this would be a wonderful date idea!

10. Etobicoke Olympium

Escape the cold while staying active and taking care of yourself at the Etobicoke Olympium. The multi-use facility has recently undergone major renovations to accommodate the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. Improvements include a new competition pool, upgraded dive tower, lighting and audio systems, shower facilities, redesigned lobby and administrative areas, and new fitness center. The Etobicoke Olympium has numerous club to join, with registered programs and drop-in programs. All programs vary by skill and age categories.
