Fun Activities in Toronto for Kids

04.13.2017 | Lifestyle

Rain or shine, the great thing about living in Toronto is there is always something exciting for your kids to do. And when learning opportunities are built into fun activities, everyone wins.

Here are our picks for the best activities for kids – and kids at heart – in Toronto.

Air Combat Zone

Located at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, your child will be able to climb into the cockpit of an F-18 Hornet and experience live head-to-head air combat. With four networked simulators, you can join in the fun and fly as a team.

Treetop Trekking

For kids aged 9 and up, Treetop Trekking is an aerial game park that offers three-hour exploration tours where you and your kids can experience zip lines, Tarzan swings, hammock nets, and jump from tree to tree on wooden bridges. For younger children, they offer the Treewalk Village Park so everyone can have an adventure.

Ontario Science Centre

Technology meets fun at the Ontario Science Centre where your child can enjoy hands-on science exhibits, an IMAX theatre, thought-provoking displays and presentations, and lay on a beanbag chair in the planetarium and watch a star show.

For an extraordinary night of science, you can sign up for a sleepover which includes exploration of the Science Centre after dark, a PJ dance party complete with DJ, evening snack and breakfast, and an IMAX film.

Hockey Hall of Fame

Hockey lovers will be thrilled with over 65,000 square feet of excitement at the Hockey Hall of Fame, which has the largest collection of hockey memorabilia in the world, theatres, simulation games, a replica NHL dressing room, and more. And what visit would be complete without hands-on access to the Stanley Cup?

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

From the Great Lakes to tropical reefs, the Ripley’s Aquarium has a wide range of marine ecosystems to explore and learn about. Stingrays, sharks, octopuses, starfish, crabs, jellyfish – they are all there to see up close and in person, as well as interactive exhibits and dive shows. For a fee, children can snorkel with stingrays or take part in the Aquarist for a day program and work behind the scenes with a real aquarist.

The Toronto Zoo

With over 450 species represented by 5,000 animals and 10km of walking trails, the Toronto Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world. Kids will enjoy the Discovery Zone, an interactive wildlife experience, and 4 exciting rides. They can also get to know Canada’s only giant Panda cubs, Jia PanPan and Jia Yueyue and their Panda parents, or learn more about rainforests, polar bear habitats, the African savanna, the Great Barrier Reef…the list goes on!
